These Are The Rules From The Greatest Sig Moderator Dadric on The Battleon Forums
I. General Etiquitte:
1. Read all stickies first!
The stickies on this board serve as a gathering point for many of the most common actions seen on this board (i.e. sig and avatar rating, tutorials and questions, etc.). Any new thread that blatantly belongs in or can be answered by a sticky will be deleted on sight. Repeated infractions will bring punishment.
2. Respect is not an option.
Reading Rolith's general rules posted above should tell you now not to be a bad forumite. Obviously not all of you will like each other, however you will all respect each other. Any flaming, trolling, swearing, or similar generally disrespectful activity will be dealt with severely. Your respect will also extend to each other's artwork. Constructive criticism is one of the must useful ways to help someone improve their artwork. However, if it is felt that someone is being mean-spirited in their criticisms, the action will be treated as flaming and dealt with accordingly. You all work hard on your artwork and you should all be proud of it.
3. Do not link to inappropriate outside sites.
Obviously, many of the tutorials and other generally helpful things will be posted on outside websites or forums. However, any website linked to must itself abide by the rules of these forums. Make no mistake, I will be paying attention the sites and forums linked to on this board, and any sites containing anything deemed inappropriate will have all links removed immediately from these boards, and in extreme cases further action may be taken against the user that posts the link. Please pay attention to what you post.
II. Board Rules
1. Sig and Avatar Shops
The general setup of a sig and avatar shop is left to the discretion of those running it. However, there are a few general rules regarding the shops.
a. Shop titles must be written in clearly readable English. 1337 or the like is not appreciated in the subjectline, and will be removed on sight.
b. Sig makers reserve the right to deny service to anyone. It is their shop, it is their decision who they make sigs for.
c. Sig requests must follow the template provided by the shop's owner if one is provided.
d. Anyone found spamming either a shop owner's thread or PM box for any reason will be dealt with severely.
e. Sig and Avatar shops also act as a mini-gallery for the propriators to display their work. However, to keep our forums running smoothly and quickly, please keep the amount of art per thread to a reasonable amount. When providing a finished sig to a customer, it is preferred that the maker provide the link rather than display the sig.
2. Sig Battles
Sig battles are allowed, but are to remain civil and to follow the rules set forth by the creator of the battle, so long as those rules comply with the board's general rules. Anyone found to be spamming, flaming in, or acting in any way to provoke the creators of a sig battle will be punished.
3. Sig and Avatar Rating
All rating of sigs and avatars is to be done in the specified sticky.
4. Questions and Tutorials
A sticky will be provided containing tutorials and questions concerning graphic art. All tutorials are to be submitted to the board's head moderator and will be added to the thread's first post. All questions are to be both asked and answered respectfully and are to remain in context. Game or chat related questions are not appreciated here and will be removed on sight.
5. "Ripping"
"Ripping" for these purposes shall be defined as "the use of another's art without permission and/or credit given". Essentially, if you take someone else's work and use it as your own. To combat this, the following process has been put in place.
a. Should you believe your art or that of another has been ripped, the first step is to contact this board's head moderator. State your case and provide any and all evidence.
b. The moderator will review the case that has been presented to them. In order to assist them and provide expertise in graphic arts, the moderator will be assisted by a panel of three sig makers chosen by the board's head moderator. These people have no authority, mod powers, etc. Their sole purpose is to assist the moderator in determining the legitimacy of a complaint.
c. Should the complaint be judged legitimate, serious actions will be taken against the "ripper". If judged illegimate or undeterminable, the complaint is dead. There are no appeals. Any harrassment of any moderator or user in regards to a dead complaint will incur serious penalties.
III. Sig Rules
Thanks to Seahawk for the guide below.
IV. Avatar Rules
1. Custom Avatars
a. Remember that only those given the capability by a moderator can upload personal avatars.
b. The maximum dimensions of an avatar are 95 x 95 pixels.
c. Avatars can be no larger than 10kb in filesize.
d. The same content rules that apply everywhere else on the forums apply to avatars, so no nudity, vulgar language, etc.
e. Animated avatars are not allowed.
2. Public Avatars

III. Sig Rules
Thanks to Seahawk for the guide below.

The Rules:
1) Maximum sig size is 500 pixels by 100 pixels. No exceptions. Keep in mind that this includes the image and any lines of text you may add above, below, or next to it.
2) Maximum sig file size is 50K. This means no large files. We were getting some ridiculously huge animated sigs, and while it may not directly affect the forum bandwidth, it does slow the forums to a crawl for dial-up users who are forced to wait for huge sigs to load.
3) Links in your sig that go to AQ sites (your character page, a suggestions thread, etc...) are OK. However, links to "trap" games or other inappropriate sites will be removed, and you will be warned accordingly.
4) Content rules apply accordingly... in other words, no nudity, no bad language, etc... If you can't post it, don't put it in your sig.
5) Limit yourself to one use of your sig per page, or better yet once per thread. With the exception of the show-off threads in the Sig and Avatar Makers subforum, threads are not about your sig. They are about the information.
6) Special forum-specific rules may also apply. For example, there should be no sigs at all in Role Playing posts, as per the RP forum rules.
7) Keep in mind, sigs are a privilege, not a right.
8) If your sig is eaten, flaming the mod who ate it won't help. Read carefully to see if a reason was given. If not, a polite PM will accomplish more then an angry post.

Note: 6 lines = 100 pixels, so every line is roughly 17 pixels high. Plan your sig accordingly if you want to use images and text

Please read these rules very carefully. While I'm willing to upload privately made avatars for public use, I'm not willing to spend ALL my time doing it. That is why I've drawn up these simple rules to follow. If your submissions do not follow these rules, don't expect your avatars to be uploaded.
1. Avatars MUST be AQ related. - Clans have thier own rules and should apply to Sonic for thier avatars. No, I will NOT upload clan avatars.
2. Avatars have to follow the regular avatar rules. 95 X 95 pixels and no larger than 10K, NO ANIMATIONS.
3. Please PM avatars to me in bunches of ten exactly. I might consider uploading less, but I will not upload more. Anything less than 8 is not worth my time or effort. All avatars must be in the same PM.
4. Do not PM me multiple times to ask when your avatars will be uploaded. I'll do it when I get to it. If I have multiple PMs about the same avatars, they won't be uploaded no matter how good they are.
5. Please PM me your submissions. I don't want to recieve emails about this.
Please note that any avatars submitted become the property of Artix Entertainment and as such could be used in advertising or on the webpages.
